Responsibilities:

  • Overall responsibility of production (in-house) as per the requirement reflected in component shop. Ensure optimum utilization of resources to achieve production and quality targets
  • Ensure compliance to quality management systems e.g Quality – at all times
  • Discuss issues in monthly indents with marketing department. Decide on production schedules to fulfil monthly indent
  • Establish plant capacity. Initiate bottleneck debugging projects to improve capacity
  • Initiate projects for making production/assembly lines more flexible, upgrade their capacities in order to match as far as possible variations in customer production schedules.
  • Constantly review the operations. Improve system efficiency by planning and implementing modifications/changes in hardware, processes, material inputs etc.
  • Minimise rejection, rework and customer complaints. Assign tasks to specific people to resolve these and monitor progress
  • Ensure immediate implementation of corrective actions due to internal and external complaints
  • Incorporate concepts like part to analysis, TPM, FMEA, value engineering, industrial engineering etc. In working systems to upgrade productivity, output quality and delivery. Ensure that such practices are followed
  • Formulate plans for adressing technical problems arising during functioning. Liase with equipment suppliers/service agencies for correcting hardware problems
  • Ensure that the required staff participate in such exercises in other departments
  • Keep abreast of new technologies and developments (e.g on line process control etc) in the manufacturing field in order to upgrade practices. Ensure technology absorption from collaborator in related fields
  • Ensure exposure of sub-ordinates of new developments in the field of manufacturing. Assigned project to sub-ordinates leading to adoption of such practices
  • Provide technical inputs, wherever required
  • Ensure preparation of annual budgets for operations, capital expenditure etc
  • Ensure preparation and supply of timely and accurate MIS reports, as required
  • Manage employee relations, ensure adherence to all laid down personnel policies and procedures
  • Ensure strict discipline in staff and workers
  • Ensure control of absenteeism and overtime
  • Plan for recruitment of staff and workers. Mark recommendations on the same to the divisional head
  • Ensure strict housekeeping standards
  • Supervision of manufacturing department staff. Conduct annual appraisal of direct sub-ordinates in the department
  • Ensure all statutory compliance, especially those related to maintenance and safety (e.g UPSEB norms on electrical wiring, belts on workers climbing heights etc.)
  • Supervise Lead- production engineering to ensure the following:
  • Time setup of Manufacturing facilities time & process including training of workmen for new development products as per structure
  • Plan and achieve improvement in productivity in manufacturing processes both in Assembly and Component manufacturing area
  • Review house keeping with administration on weekly basis and to monitor it through Admin
  • To liquidate unwanted material at all stages once in 3 months
  • Any other tasks assigned from time to time
  • Other specific tasks assigned from time to time
  • Other specific responsibilities & authorities as defined in the Procedure Manual
  • Ensure implementation of EMS

Requirements:

  • Mechancial Engineer level
  • At least 07 – 10 years of experience
  • Strong leadership qualities, strong follow up, strong interpersonal skills and managerial skills
